The National Day of the Tree was instituted by the authorities of Burkina Faso on July 24, 2018 for the strengthening of reforestation operations with a view to reversing the trend of environmental degradation and ensuring sustainable forest management. During this day, the President of Faso plants and invites each Burkinabe to plant and maintain at least one tree. The National Tree Day aims to (i) create popular enthusiasm for planting and protecting trees, (ii) magnify trees for their multiple functions and ecosystem services, and (iii) recognize and reward the merits of actors involved in the preservation of forest resources.
